An attractive dupondius of Tiberius from Commagene

Tiberius, 14-37. Dupondius (Orichalcum, 29 mm, 15.12 g, 12 h), Commagene, circa 19-20. TI•CAESAR•DIVI•AVGVSTI•F•AVGVSTVS Laureate head of Tiberius to right. Rev. PONT•MAXIM•COS•III•IMP•VII•TR•POT•XXI Winged caduceus between two crossed cornucopiae. BMC 174. RIC I 89. RPC I 3868. A beautiful coin with a splendid near black patina. Minor areas of weakness, otherwise, good very fine.

From an old Swiss collection, privately acquired from Schweizerische Kreditanstalt Monetarium in the late 1970s or early 1980s (with original dealer's ticket).
